Location: BOAO, China 1'000 sqm 2010
Client: Citic Group LTD
Type: Hospitality

In 2010 Citic Bank asked Area-17 to design a private clubhouse in Boao, on beautiful Hainan Island. Citic Club House is an ideal place for the bank’s important clients to combine business meetings with leisure.

The original four separate apartments were completely renovated and converted into a homogeneous space, exquisitely decorated in the New Chinese style.
The clubhouse combines the luxuries of a hotel with the comfort of a real home. A sense of splendor permeates all the environments: the dining room that can host up to twenty guests, the home theatre, the spa, the business area, the relaxation area with a finely crafted pool table, and the private guest rooms, each one with a stunning view on the ocean. Spaces are finished in the dark and precious shades of wood and dark mirror, contrasting with the inlaid white and yellow-gold marble floor. All the rooms are furnished with authentic Made in Italy pieces.

Run Hua, a top Chinese automotive dealer, tasked Area-17 with the design for its headquarters and car showroom in Jinan. The project also includes a hotel, a service apartment tower, and a main square. The square unifies the different architectural elements physically and metaphorically, therefore becoming the symbol of the area.
