Description
Iris Ceramica stand designed by Area-17 for Cersaie 2018 demonstrates the ability of interpreting contemporary spaces using the ceramic material in an unexpected way. This year, the inspiration comes from the latest trends in co-working environments, where new ways of interacting and doing business ask for new architectural languages.
From an ideal context where workspace and leisure merge together, it originates the ironic reinterpretation of the concept of “talent pool”. Inside the stand, it becomes a false swimming pool made of marble-effect Azul Macaubas ceramic slabs: a powerful focal point with an aquatic materic character. The pool hosts informal seating and a lounge area at the center, where a water bar serves a selection of draft waters. Large round windows punctuating the perimetral walls and volumes give the perfect view on the talent pool.
On either side, a row of beach cabanas made of colorful ceramics from the onyx collection features an alternation of domestic and private working settings – from phone booths to the micro areas for one-to-one business meetings. The investigation of workspaces goes on with two more types of meeting rooms, with a more formal design and settings, according to an evolution of functions that is also metaphor of the evolution of everyday life scenarios.
