Description
Located in Shenzhen, the Time Food Plaza is the ultimate destination for customers who want to experience time travelling from the past to the future through a rich offer of dining opportunities. A stargate-like entrance is the touchpoint that welcomes visitors to start their journey. The image of a starry sky decorates the ceiling and bounces all over through a system of infinity mirrors, giving the illusion of a space continuing on forever into infinity and beyond. The digital signage integrated in the interior design provides information about the 5 venues inside the food court. Visitors are admitted after scanning their digital ID at the entrance gate.
A primordial universe generated the earth and the sky, translated into two main architectural features that characterize the food court interiors: floor and ceiling. Simultaneously unifying and distinctive, zigzagged floor inserts host stabilized moss changing style in each environment. Alongside, a silk-printed river reinforces the concept while hinting directly to the idea of time flowing like a river. Up in the ceiling, a seamless geometric light-line runs along the whole space, connecting different areas and remembering us that everything – the past, the present, and the future – happens under the same sky.
The dining offer ranges from the futuristic experience of the Healthy concept, where everything is robotized and the interiors look like a sci-fi movie set, to a trendy tea bar, and finally to the Pura O2 restaurant, which interprets the presents through an explosion of luscious vegetation spreading over tables and walls - a metaphor for life itself. Passing by here, the visitor is about to leave the area of future and present. A time tunnel made of panels of textured glass leads to the area of the past.
Two reinterpretations of the Chinese tradition wait for customers here: the first is a modern take on a classic Hot Pot. A typical ensemble of colors, materials and decoration create a highly recognizable environment, freshen up by site-specific installation by local artists. The second and finest choice it’s a dive into the past: an old-style Chinese snack, spiced up with precious textures and aesthetic quotes from classical iconography. Embedded displays for digital orders and discreet convey belts are integrated in the design of both restaurants: despite the vintage allure, neither of them gives up on the comfort and efficiency of top-notch technology.
