Description
Shortly after Foshan, the next Tencent Industrial Internet Experience Center opens in Chongqing. Assuming that humanity is on the edge of expanding its own boundaries beyond the world we know, Area-17 designed the showroom as a futuristic spaceship housing the most innovative technology for B-to-B applications.
From the outside, the showroom looks like a massive, solid and rough stone monolith rising from the ground level. The main façade is decorated with the company logos. A shining and ethereal metallic shape cuts the monolith to generate the entrance, defining a path that will guide visitors through the whole showroom.
White prisms outline the interior design and the different environments. The first prism welcomes visitors at the entrance: neat shapes and multimedia devices conveying innovative contents set up an inspirational mood from the very beginning. Passing by this gate, one moves to the area devoted to Tencent history and achievements, illustrated on sliding panels.
Another white prism hanging from the ceiling is the cornerstone towards a main area designed as a spaceship control deck, focusing on the company’s services. A precise net of wires links a multimedia wall to interactive devices embedded in a wide table on the opposite side, creating an engaging interplay where clients can both experience and get information about a specific product.
Moving on to the heart of the showroom, the next environment looks like generated by a swirling white volume that also functions as a bar countertop during the company’s events. From the dynamic shape, the names and logos of Tencent’s partners are projected on the floor, revealing the intense system of collaborations behind a successful business.
A final exhibition of virtual projections interacting with real objects hints to the company’s vision about the future and leads to the end of the visit, right after a meeting room made of surfaces fragmented by straight rays of light.
