Description
Located in the city center, the new supermarket Coop Busto Arsizio is the core of a wider urban requalification area. The store occupies the volume of a former factory and has been redesigned by Area-17 and Inres as a connection between the neighborhood and the new project area. Roof-to-ceiling windows dematerialize large portions of walls and engage interiors and exteriors in a uninterrupted dialogue.
A rigorous and functional layout follows the disposition of fresh products’ display cases. The interior design draws inspiration from an ideal typical, small, Italian local store (“bottega”): colorful tiles, enlivened by vintage illustrations, mark the passage from one “bottega” to other and organize the whole shopping experience. The wine section is highlighted by a wooden decorative framework, also evoked in the ceiling fixtures that characterize areas of strategic commercial importance: the home accessorizes display and the “smart food” display, featuring healthy seasonal products.
The high ceiling made it possible to create wide, open views through the store, since the whole lighting system has moved above 4 meters height. The only exceptions are the decorative pendants hanging over bar and delicatessen areas. The innovative panel-led solution guarantees maximum flexibility and great personalization in terms of light temperature and intensity, which leads to excellent results in enhancing different clusters of products.
