Location: SALERNO, Italy 150 sqm 2020
Client: Private Client
Type: Residential

Nestled on Southern Italy hills, this apartment is designed by Area-17 as a seamless space alternating opaque and transparent volumes, flooded by natural light. The idea of connectivity shapes a new interiors’ layout: the minimalistic cube of the kitchen opens on the dining and living area. The result is a refined yet casual environment, tailored on the family social life’s routine.

A transparent room as home office stands in between the living and the sleeping area. The transition from the public to a more private space is underlined by a change in the décor mood. Wardrobes and bathrooms are hidden behind romantic tapestries, materials become more precious and textures more elaborates, furniture includes vintage pieces from the owner’s personal collection.

Most of fixtures and furniture is custom made by highly-skilled local craftsmen: from the built-in closets serving as vertical partitions to the glass and wrought iron sliding doors; from the concrete shelf running along the living area to the neat kitchen’s volumes with marble details. An elegant palette of neutral shades is the interiors fil rouge, punctuated by intense charcoal grey and midnight blue accents.
