Area-17 designed the Shanghai-based purchasing headquarter of Lojas Renner , leading South American fast-fashion company. Inspired by the concept of cooperative working, the layout consists of a vast, uninterrupted environment. Furniture is arranged to guarantee the maximum flexibility, while only few areas are devoted to specific functions. The graphic’s design plays a major role in clearly defining the space usage, as in the case of the mail area.

The interior design focuses on enhancing the building’s industrial flair. Raw concrete surfaces, exposed ductwork ceiling, and metallic panels interpret this soul, counterbalanced by the warmth of wooden flooring. The minimalistic palette plays with neutral shades, which by contrast emphasizes the bright red of the brand logo, quoted here and there by accent elements in the décor and furnishing. An attentive use of spotlights creates a vibrant and stimulating light, oppositely to what happens in traditional working environments with flat lighting solutions.

A giant octopus animated for few months the ION Orchard shopping centre’s atrium. It belonged to Panerai pop-up store, a nautically-themed universe set up to not only celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Panerai Luminor, but also serving as temporary holding grounds whilst its flagship boutique within the same mall underwent a refurbishment.

Area-17’s design for the patisserie L’Amour aims to create a place where one can escape from his daily routine, an enchanted universe where the whole senses are stimulated by a seamless correspondence between taste and sight, olfaction and touch. The boutique combines sensoriality and functionality. Thanks to varied configurations of interiors and seating, it is the perfect venue for a relaxing break alone or with friends.
