Type: Workspaces

OSGIC’s new office strives to find a well balanced and dynamic way to manage creativity, beginning with a workplace where technology and design coexist. In order to reach this goal, Area-17 designed the space in collaboration with established public and private institutions, such as: IAO Fraunhofer German Institute, AR Technology, and IUH Smart Home Solutions.

The Ordos Sino German Innovation Center (OSGIC) is a non-profit organization aiming to promote industrial upgrading and transformation. OSGIC is strongly supported by the Chinese Government.
Area-17 interprets the Chinese concept of Yin-Yang by designing a place where people work, concentrate, research, and have meetings but also relax, communicate, learn, and occasionally rest. The result is a fluid environment, where wavy and clean lines accompany movements and actions without interruption. The evanescent silvery white marble and steel details interact with the deep blue leather and fabric, strengthening the idea that opposites complement one another.
OSGIC’s commitment to technological innovation is revealed both in futuristic shapes and the strong presence of technology in the design. The office includes a laboratory for scientific applications, a 3D showroom, a digital “city” with a 3D photography quick-scanner, and an interactive virtual reality (VR) system. At the heart of the building, a Sky LED panel projects pictures that dissolve into each other, providing changing atmospheres for workers and visitors.
