Location: MACERATA, Italy 6'000 sqm 2013
Client: INRES COOP
Type: Commercial

The extension of the Val di Chienti Shopping Mall has been the occasion to rethink the very identity of the mall. The redesign by Area-17 and INRES moved from the need of having a more efficient circulation and a better accesses organization.

Adopting a simple and effective urban language, Area-17 insets landmark volumes above the entrances, which become the focal points of the architectural composition. The outside flooring and walls are used as supports for communication, turning into real maps through which the visitors orient themselves.
Inside, a wavy ceiling unifies long commercial paths, previously not homogeneous. Light pours in from circular openings in the ceiling and through the tall windows, flooding spaces and creating wide and continuous perspectives toward the outside.
